BFF2012 Wrapped Up

September 16, 2012 in News, Staff Blog

Brony Fan Fair Chairman Peter C. Jiang glances at the community mural that’s now mounted in his family’s home.

From the beginning of Brony Fan Fair’s conception, it has been our goal to provide an environment where bronies can celebrate their love of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic without fear of judgment on that alone. This show, which has shown us the importance of friendship and inter-connectivity, has brought together an amazing community with its own art, music, and culture to the internet; Brony Fan Fair was an opportunity for our internet culture to a singular physical place in reality. As many of our attendees have found, it was a sight to behold.

On September 8-9th at the Holiday Inn Austin Midtown, more then 900 of you came out to our small convention in Austin; many of you who have traveled so far from your homes came to Brony Fan Fair expecting a great time found just that. From the feedback we received from our fans, our convention, the “Little Con that Could,” was one that our attendees will remember. A memory to cherish.

Our first year has gone by so fast, but BFF2013 is on the way. We’re taking into account the criticisms we’ve received this year in order to plan for a bigger & better Brony Fan Fair next year. Although I have received many thanks for organizing this event, this convention has always been and always will be about you, the attendee. No matter how much money we sink into the convention, none of it would’ve been a success if it weren’t for you coming out and having a good time. So thank you, attendees, for making this first year a success.

Keep an eye on our website as we have some plans for our community in the off season and don’t forget to check out our supporters at IKKiCON, the largest anime convention in Austin, Texas.

Sincerely,
Peter C. Jiang
Your humble and faithful Chairman

As a post script, I want to apologize to Gentlecolt Collaborations for the breakdown in communications. Their absence at the Love is Magic panel was due to a negligence on our part and it cost our attendees an opportunity to see what Gentlecolt had in store for them. To make up for this, I have promised them a panel at BFF2013 to show off their game and I hope you’ll come out to see them.
